Global Crystal develops composite wafers to prepare for future 5G market

The Silicon Wafer Factory Global Wafer and Guo Haozhong, a professor at the Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering at Taiwan Jiaotong University, and the Nano Component Lab in Taiwan have successfully developed composite wafers to prepare for the future 5G market.

Global Wafer's cooperation with Guo Haozhong and Taiwan's Nano-Components Lab is one of the science park's R&D intensive industry-university cooperation programs. The tripartite cooperation from substrate, wafer bonding, epitaxy to high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) component manufacturing process And verification technology, successfully developed high pressure composite wafers.

In addition to the future 5G market, Global Wafer pointed out that the gallium nitride (GaN) epitaxial composite wafer developed this time can also be applied to the electric vehicle market; in addition, the global wafer is invested in the development of silicon carbide composite wafers.

Global Wafer said that the current price of related products is still high, but it is expected that demand will break out in 2020, and relevant capacity will be gradually built in recent years.
